Sensational Zambian musician Joseph Banda, otherwise known as Jay Brown is back, this time dropping a hit single dubbed Chikwati, a Nyanja song loosely translated as marriage.
The song is a direct diss on over age women, failing to find men for marriage.
Jay Brown’s song describes a 25 -year- old woman desperately running to Churches, seeking help from Papas(Prophets) but turning away potential men who approach her for marriage based on their financial capabilities.
Jay Brown is bold enough and says one of the disappointed men could be an Angel.
The song says the first thing this 25-year-old woman does is to look at the shoes of whoever proposes her.
The song produced by Paxah has coordinated and balanced beats, with social commentary portraying the real life scenario.
The video of the song done in July, 2020 is equally high rated with very good picture and sound quality.
Speaking in an interview with Tumfweko, Jay Brown said he was motivated to do the song after observing the current happenings in Zambia were streets are flooded with single over age women who are intentionally not married.
He said a number of women are not married because they look for successful marriages that do not come their way.
“It is important to note that most women nowadays are not married, not because God wants it to be so but because of their liking. They keep on going to Church, fasting from morning to evening, seeking descent marriages but when men come their way, they turn them down based on their appearance,” he said, ” For lack of a better term, that is nonsense.
The singer said single women should look beyond appearance and material possession in men if they have to find descent marriages.
“It is embarrassing for a woman to remain single beyond the age of thirty,” Jay Brown said.
While marriages in Nordic nations are not a priority, with breakup experienced on a daily basis, Jay Brown says the situation in Africa is different and a married woman gets alot of honour.
