Kagem Mining on the Copperbelt has come under fire from some of its employees after attempting to impose an indirect mandatory vaccination at the mine site.
The company which is owned by Gemfields Group is reported to have issued an internal memorandum last week that each time workers boarded the bus and entered the premises they were required to show their vaccination card.
The directive sent some employees into a panic that felt if they did not take the Astrazeneca Vaccine they would lose jobs.
Aggrieved employees further allege that because they took the jab out of fear, the company claims it never implemented the directive.
Zambia has in the last 24 hours recorded 166 covid-19 cases.
