Out spoken Catholic priest Father Frank Bwalya has announced that he is immediately forming a political party.
Fr Bwalya who recently resigned his position on the ZESCO board as Chairperson in a move he said was meant to reclaim his voice, says President Michael Sata has lost it and that time has come for Zambians to start waiting for the next messiah.
He says President Sata is no longer the same caring person Zambians knew before he became president.
He says he made the decision to form a political party last night as part of the visions that God has been showing him.
Fr Bwalya says he has a vision for a Zambia which will have not street kids among other things.
He adds that people challenging him to form a political party are scared because they know that their stay in power is threatened.
QFM News reports that Fr Bwalya says his political legacy in Zambia has dawned, and has promised to introduce a new type of politics.
He has further announced the launch of a yellow card campaign against the PF government for failing to keep mealie meal prices low and its selective prosecution.
And Fr Bwalya says he will not reveal the name of his political party until such a time when it is right to do so.
He says this is to void the hijacking of the name of his yet to be launched political party.
And Youth and Sport Minister Chishimba Kambwili accused Fr Bwalya of being a bitter and confused priest who is running mad.
Mr Kambwili who is also PF national youth Chairperson accused Fr Bwalya when he called in to Radio Phoenix’s ‘Let The People Talk’ were Father Bwalya was featuring of misleading the people of Zambia.
He advised Fr Bwalya to go back to his calling and let go his bitterness.
Mr Kambwili accused Fr Bwalya of having approached him to form a political party when he was removed as Foreign Affairs Minister something he turned down.
He says Father Bwalya has had presidential ambitions for a longtime.
“I am calling on other opposition leaders like Hakainde Hichilema to come together and save the people of Zambia from this impending disaster by the PF government. People should not judge Mr. Hichilema by the lies that have been perpetuated by other people in the past,” he said.
Fr. Bwalya who said his interest was not the presidency for now said asked other opposition leaders like Mr. Hichilema and Nevers Mumba to welcome him in fighting a common of removing the PF government.
He said as someone who suffered a lot for PF, by merely selling badges and books while campaigning for the party, he feels let down by how the struggle has been lost, including non-fulfilment of promises to the people.
And calling on the same programme, Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili told Fr. Bwalya not to mislead the people of Zambia by being over-ambitious.
“You are just a very ambitious and confused Fr. Bwalya who will not go anywhere. People are cheating you and you should go back to the pulpit as you are getting mad,” said Mr. Kambwili.
He disclosed that when he (Kambwili) was demoted as Foreign Affairs Minister, Fr. Bwalya went to his office to lure him to resign and form a political party because they were popular enough, but Kambwili refused.
“Umuntu nga afuma kubupatili,alamba ukupena, so Bwalya nawamba ukupena. Bwelelamofye ku church ulepususha abantu,” Kambwili said.
Kambwili said there was no way Fr. Bwalya can blame the PF for fuel price increase because there are very few beneficiaries of fuel since many people do not drive.
But in response, Fr. Bwalya said from now the people of Zambia will judge who is mad between those who are stealing people’s money in government and himself.
Fr. Bwalya has since appointed former PF member Eric Chanda as the first Secretary General and Emmanuel Chilekwa as Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations.
