THE 37-year-old Kabwe woman who had her face burnt by her husband’s 26-year-old lover has been evacuated to UTH for further medical attention.
Police in Kabwe arrested Flaviour Kashimbaya, a nurse at Kabwe Mine Hospital after she poured hot water on Beatrice Nsama Limbembe of Chowa compound on Thursday, who was subsequently admitted to Kabwe Mine Hospital.
UTH public relations manager Mwenya Mulenga said yesterday that Beatrice had been admitted to one of the surgical wards at the country’s largest hospital.
“Her condition is stable. We are just treating her wounds,” Mulenga said. “She was admitted this yesterday morning.”
Sources close to the victim said she had followed her husband to Kashimbaya’s house after he did not show up at the matrimonial home for two days.
“What happened is that the husband, whose name is Godfrey Limbembe, had not been home for two days for no apparent reason. On the second day, the woman Beatrice went to the husband’s girlfriend’s home. And when the husband came out of the house, Beatrice and Mr Limbembe started exchanging bitter words,” the source explained. “A few minutes later…Flaviour came out with an electric kettle containing hot water. She then poured the hot water on Beatrice’s face.”
Central Province police commissioner Standwell Lungu confirmed the incident, which happened around 05:30 hours on Thursday.
