Dear Editor,
KINDLY allow me to add my voice to the many proactive Zambians who are in total disagreement with the yet again proposed upward tariff adjustment by Zesco Limited.
For some good years now this company has attributed its annual increase in electricity tariffs to recapitalisation.
Customers have generally obliged and sacrificed their hard-earned money with the hope of one day experiencing improved service delivery but to no avail.
The chief executive officer and his colleagues should realise that Zesco Limited is an institution capable of financing such expansion projects with funds sourced from banks and other sources as opposed to the current overdependence on the same customers.
Recapitalisation of the company is a serious undertaking, which cannot be financed through over-charging the already overburdened consumers of electricity.
Let not Zesco Limited abuse us, but source money from elsewhere to fund its projects and broaden its customer base.
It should offer an efficient/effective service.
SIZWE B,
Ndola.
