Zanaco midfielder Roderick Kabwe has been ruled out this Saturday’s international friendly match against Namibia due to injury.
Team Doctor Joseph Kabungo said preliminary investigations had shown that the player had torn tissue on the ankle and a muscle strain on the knee and was due for another medical appointment to ascertain the extent of the damage.
Kabungo said the midfielder would therefore not make the trip to Windhoek.
“We did a couple of X-rays and so far we have found that he has torn soft tissue ligaments on the ankle and a muscle strain on the knee. We will do another check tomorrow to ascertain the extent of my damage basically that rules him out of the friendly on Saturday,” Kabungo said.
“He will have to see an orthopedic tomorrow.”
Kabwe was named in Herve Renard’s 24 member squad but will have to stay behind and hope the injury does not rule him out of the June 8 and 15 Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Sudan.
The team is expected to leave by road for Windhoek today.
