Dear editor
Please post this on your blog
It has come to my attentions that there are no standards whatsoever among Zambian artists and Musicians. Zambian artist normally can pocket as low as KR2000 per appearance/ Concert.
Our Zambian artists must set their own standard and that will also improve the economy of our Zambian entertainment industry. Look at Nigeria, local artists like Wizkid the lowest he’s paid per Local appearance is N2 million or KR60 000 in Zambian kwacha. and in a week they do 2 or 3 appearances and in a month these Musicians are able to earn themselves over KR500, 000.
If they can’t set their standard I would advise them to form an association to help them set their minimum pay per appearance.
That’s why we are finding our best Musicians quitting Music to join Djaying because of the peanuts they get in the current music industry. Ask Petersen.
I would also like to condemn the companies like Airtel for exploiting our Muscians. I don’t know how much they pay our artists to appear on their adverts but I know its peanuts. MTN in Nigeria Pays its Local artists as much as KR2 million just for featuring on their adverts.
I’m comparing to Nigerian artists because Nigeria as the most developed Entertainment/music industry in Africa.
I hope our artists can pick one or two things from this.
