Emmanuel Mayuka has continued to settle steadily in the English Premier League and is now getting the praises from his coach Nigel Adkins.
Southampton manager Adkins who signed Mayuka from Young Boys Bern Of Switzerland was clearly impressed with the Zambian forward after he came in as a 57th minute substitute to help Southampton get some grip on the game which they eventually lost to in-form Tottenham HotSpurs who have now moved in the top four bracket.
“Mayuka coming on the pitch gave us a big impetus”, Adkins stated.
Speaking to UK’s Sky Sports, Adkins singled out the 2012 AFCON top scorer and Rodriguez who scored the only goal for the Saints.
Mayuka who was deployed on the right hand side did not waste any ball and was involved in most of the threatening build ups the period he was on the pitch.
“He’s a young man who has come in and wants to play down the middle. We introduced him down the right-hand side and he made the impact required, and did that very well.”
Second from bottom Southampton play Leeds United tomorrow (Tuesday) at 21:45 in the league cup before they play West Bromwich Albion on Monday next week.
