The Zambia National Women’s Lobby (ZNWL) has described as inhuman the trend by women who are dumping their newly born babies in pit latrines and other places.
National Chairperson, Beauty Katebe Phiri, says women in the country should condemn such acts and unite and ensure that such barbaric acts are stopped forthwith.
Ms. Phiri has told Qfm News that every child, regardless of circumstances surrounding their conception, has a right to life and such moves of dumping babies are unacceptable.
She says women involving themselves in unprotected sex should be ready to face the consequences of their actions.
Ms. Phiri has cited the failure to uphold Christian values as a contributing factor to the alarming trend of baby dumping.
She has pointed out that if people upheld Christian values, baby dumping would not be entertained.
Ms. Phiri has further advised women contemplating dumping their babies to take them to orphanages and other organizations where such children would be looked after.
