Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Mukuka Mulenga has been declared fit to face Ghana in Friday’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier in Kumasi.
The 20-year-old midfielder has been out of action since August 3 with an ankle ligament injury.
Zambia team physician Dr Joseph Kabungo gave Mukuka the all clear on Tuesday at Chipolopolo’s Johannesburg training base.
“Mukuka has been training and everything is good with Mukuka,” Dr Kabungo said.
“So on Mukuka we don’t have any issues and I don’t have anything to talk about except that he is in good health and has completely recovered from his injury.
“It is now a technical issue and nothing medical.”
Mukuka sustained the injury during Zambia’s 2014 CHAN first round, return leg qualifier against Botswana at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
His return to fitness is a boost for Zambia coach Herve Renard who will be without key strikers Collins Mbesuma and Jacob Mulenga for the must-win Group D clash in Kumasi.
Meanwhile Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan failed to complete Tuesday’s training session over an injury concern.
The Al Ain striker had his right thigh heavily strapped with ice on the sidelines as he watched his teammates train at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The 27-year-old picked up a knock while with his UAE club.
He however proved his fitness when he lasted the entire duration of Al Ain’s UAE Super Cup defeat to rivals Al Ahli last week.
The Ghana captain however pulled out of Tuesday’s session after feeling pains in his thigh.
