BUPETE Chishimba, the man claiming to be ‘Jesus of Kitwe’, says he will not celebrate Christmas today because Jesus Christ was born in January.
“Christ was not born in December, he was born in January and this is the time that Christians are supposed to commemorate his birth. As you celebrate Christmas, I will just be home with my family,” he said.
Mr Chishimba also said he will soon embark on a journey around the world to preach his message and to convince people that he is the chosen Messiah.
He said his first stop will be Lusaka but that he will need financial help for the long journey around the world.
Mr Chishimba urged Christians to accept him as the true son of God because the Old Testament states that poor and humble people like Noah where used to spread the word of God.
He said as ‘Jesus of Kitwe’, he will continue to preach his message to the people and that whilst in Lusaka; he hopes the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) will accord him a platform on which he can preach to the country.
Last year, residents of Kitwe’s Mindolo township ruthlessly beat up Mr Chishimba for claiming to be Jesus.
He was saved by police officers who quickly whisked him away.
And Copperbelt acting commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa has urged Kitwe residents to ignore Mr Chishimba’s claims and that they should not threaten or harm him.
