Zambia coach Patrice Beaumelle says he is not surprised defender Stopilla Sunzu is a hit at Sochaux.
Sunzu is enjoying a flying start in his second coming in France six years after a brief stint at Ligue 2 side Chateauroux.
The 24-year-old defender last Saturday scored second from bottom Sochaux’s only goal in a 1-0 home win over Guingamp just two weeks after scoring in another 1-0 win over visiting Nantes on February 1.
“As I have always said since 2008 when I met Stopilla for the first time, this player is a world class profile player,” Beaumelle told MTNFootball.com.
“He has all the requisites that any player in the very best clubs in Europe needs. He is still young and still has a lot to learn.”
Sunzu’s goals and most importantly his defensive performances have seen him win the faith of Sochaux coach and his ex-Zambia mentor Herve Renard.
Renard has played him all seven successive Ligue 1 games since his move from DR Congo club TP Mazembe on a Euro 1 million transfer in early January that has seen Sochaux’s conceded half of the 14 goals the side has let in their six games prior to his arrival.
