SEVENTY nine pupils of Loloma Secondary School in Manyinga district sustained serious injuries after falling off a truck they were travelling in.
The pupils fell off after the truck’s tail gate flung opened.
The pupils were going to attend a burial of a fellow pupil, Gift Munyingu, in Kabompo.
The accident happened around 10:30 hours on Thursday last week about 10 kilometres from Manyinga Boma.
Mr Sibote said the police have arrested and charged the truck driver, Green Sakuwaha, 34, of Samundu village for dangerous driving.
The pupils were from both the new and old Loloma Secondary School.
Mr Sibote said out of the 79 pupils, 20 sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Loloma Mission Hospital but are out of danger.
And Ms Manela said in a telephone interview from Manyinga that out of the 20 that were in hospital, 14 are still admitted and that one who is in a critical condition has been referred to Chitokoloki Mission Hospital in Zambezi.
