Nkana on Wednesday afternoon beat Konkola Blades 2 – 1 while Zesco United had to come from behind to hold Konkola Mine Police to a 1 – 1 draw in rescheduled fixtures for week two.
Nkana started brightly with Donashano Malama coming close in the 15th minute with a header which came off the woodwork.
Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba opened the scores for Nkana on 33 minutes after he looped the ball over goalkeeper William Chibale to score in an open net to make it 3 goals in 2 matches.
Claude Bwalya then extended Nkana’s lead in the second half but veteran striker Elson Mkandawire pulled one back for the visitors to set up an exciting ending which saw Nkana ust holding to the lead.
In Chililabombwe, Zesco United missed a chance to join Power Dynamos on top of the log after they were held to a 1 – 1 draw by a determined Konkola Mine Police side.
Clatous Chama scored the all important equaliser for Zesco from the spot after Lazarous Kambole was brought down in the box to make it two goals in two games.
Chama was later given matching orders for using foul language while Mine Police also ended the game with ten men.
This was Zesco’s third draw in three consecutive matches.
