POLICE in Namwala have arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly raping an 87-year-old woman.
And police in Zambezi have arrested two people for alleged examination malpractices.
Southern Province commissioner of police Mary Chikwanda confirmed yesterday that the incident happened on Monday around 16:00 hours in Mwanamwale area.
Ms Chikwanda identified the suspect as Malawo Mwakonela of Habeenzu village in Chief Nalubamba’s area.
“Mwakonela is alleged to have raped an 87-year-old woman on June 2 this year and the incident happened around 16:20 hours at a place called Mwanamwale,” she said.
Ms Chikwanda said police have detained Mwakonela and he will appear in court soon.
