Vice-President Guy Scott

MMD Kasenengwa candidate Victoria Kalima says it is sad that Vice-President Guy Scott on Wednesday disrespected Rupiah Banda by calling him “nyama soya”

Addressing a rally at Chipalamba sub-centre grounds on Thursday, Kalima said it was painful that Vice-President Scott could insult former president Banda who was not involved in the ongoing political campaigns.

Kalima said Banda deserved to be respected.

She said it was wrong for the Vice-President to drag Banda into any political battles as he was no longer involved in active politics.

She further accused the Vice-President of running out of real issues affecting the area, hence resorting to insulting the innocent former Head of State.

“It is sad that PF government with their usual insulting campaigns on Wednesday, Vice-President Guy Scott insulted former president Rupiah Banda. What pained me more yesterday (Wednesday) is that Vice-President insulted Rupiah, that he is nyama soya as if he is involved in these political campaigns. Instead of him addressing the crowd on development, he attacked Rupiah. Now, I have not come here to insult anyone but to ask for me to finish my two years for the term remaining to complete the developments,” Kalima said.

Kalima, who lay on the ground to lobby for votes, claimed that roads in the area were worked on and that boreholes were also drilled to provide safe drinking water in some parts of the constituency.

Kalima said it was also wrong for Vice-President Scott to intimidate people in the area by saying they were not going to see any development if they did not vote for PF candidate Gideon Zulu and that certificates for women clubs would be withdrawn by government.

“Let me thank you for your prayers to God that when there were plans to block us from standing, you prayed for me, and we are standing. There is K2.5 million in the CDF account waiting and when you vote for me, I will continue developing the area where I had left before the seat was nullified,” Kalima said.
And Kalima said Vice-President Scott instructed the closure of FRA depots in the area because the government had no money to pay farmers.

“It is sad that at this critical time when schools are opening, government has suspended the buying of maize from farmers. How are you going to send your children to schools? Can you say this government cares for you? Government has no money to pay farmers that’s why they have stopped buying maize from you,” said Kalima.
