The trade unions in Lundazi are unhappy with the constitution consultation in the district went. They say that the district committee chaired by former Council Treasurer who has since been transferred to Kafue saw fit to remove the names of all the union representatives from the consultation leaving the workers unrepresented.
Workers spoken to have wondered what the motives of the committee were because of the intended 130 delegates to the consultation, only about 90 were present. Some of the names submitted by various organizations were omitted and no reason given for the removals. ZCTU secretary Joseph Mugolo was quoted on the local community radio station as saying that the omissions were mischievous and apparently malicious.
