THE Patriotic Front (PF) disciplinary committee that was determining cases against Kabwata member of Parliament (MP) Given Lubinda and suspended Eastern Province chairman Lucas Phiri, among others, concluded its sittings yesterday.
The committee, which commenced its deliberations on Friday, will now forward its recommendations to the PF central committee.
Committee chairman Edgar Lungu said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that Mr Lubinda, Mr Phiri and other accused party members appeared before the committee.
Mr Lungu said the committee will evaluate submissions from the accused before submitting a report to the central committee for action.
Pressure has been mounting from party members calling for expulsion of Mr Lubinda from the party, accusing him of working with opposition political parties.
PF secretary general Wynter Kabimba gave Mr Lubinda a seven-day ultimatum to exculpate himself on, among other allegations, that he was leaking confidential information to the media and opposition political parties.
And Mr Phiri was suspended from the party together with five other officials for allegedly sowing seeds of division in PF.
Mr Phiri and other suspended officials were also accused of working with former Chipata Central MP Lameck Mangani to propagate seeds of division in the district.
