NKANA 2 BUFFALOES 0
COACH Aggrey Chiyangi yesterday started his reign on a winning note as Nkana dwarfed 10-man Green Buffaloes in an MTN Super Division Week 11 match.
Hired to replace Beston Chambeshi last Monday, Chiyangi saw his players score one goal in either half.
Simon Bwalya opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a clinical finish.
Chiyangi had his game plan disturbed on the half-hour mark when striker Ronald Chibwe sustained an injury and was replaced by Felix Nyaende.
The hosts could have doubled the lead on 42 minutes but Shadreck Musonda’s goal was ruled off-side by referee Milton Mweemba.
Nkana continued tormenting Buffaloes and their efforts paid off on 70 minutes when Musonda sealed victory with a low shot past goalkeeper Fred Silwamba after benefiting from Tony Odur’s pass.
Five minutes later, Buffaloes suffered a setback when Felloni Sitonya saw a straight red card for a crude challenge on Musonda.
Nkana have 16 points, one behind Buffaloes.
BLADES 0 ZANACO 1
Zanaco opened a four-point lead at the summit of the Super Division log after beating Konkola Blades in Chililabombwe.
Striker Aubrey Funga’s 69th minute goal pushed Zanaco to 24 points while Blades are stuck on 13.
WANDERERS 2 NAPSA 1
‘Mighty’ Mufulira Wanderers maintained their unbeaten run at home when they edged Napsa Stars at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira, MULWANDA LUPIYA reports.
Brian Ambungeni fired Wanderers into the lead from a free-kick on 44 minutes but Keagan Zulu restored parity on 67 minutes with a header from Michael Silavwe’s cross.
Substitute Labby Lwambula ensured Wanderers collected full points with a volley on 72 minutes.
NKWAZI 0 FOREST 1
Forest Rangers put up a sluggish performance but managed to snatch victory over Nkwazi at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka, ROBINSON KUNDA reports.
Walter Bwalya’s goal on 68 minutes was enough for Forest to register the fourth win of the season.
Forest have 13 points, three behind Nkwazi.
RANGERS 0 NAKAMBALA 0
Striker Fashion Sakala missed a penalty as Nchanga Rangers’ poor run continued when they battled to a barren draw with Nakambala Leopards at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola.
Rangers have eight points, one better than Nakambala.
