LAZ Wants Presidential Term Petition Dismissed

THE Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) has filed an application in the Constitutional Court to dismiss the matter in which four opposition leaders are seeking the Constitutional Court’s interpretation on whether President Lungu is eligible to contest the 2021 presidential elections.
And Heritage Party President Godfrey Miyanda has being joined to the proceedings.
LAZ has contended that the issues raised in the originating summon are procedurally non-justiciable by the Constitutional Court because they do not have sufficient evidence in the matter and the originating summons does not disclose issues, which should be determined by the court.
LAZ lawyers have also stated that the issues raised in the originating summons are beyond the provision of article 52 of the Constitution, rendering them null and void
