The new look US$ 450,000 Nkana Stadium will be unveiled on Sunday with a high profile friendly against Kabwe Warriors.
Club sponsors Mopani Copper Mines say they are happy the 11 time champions will be returning to their fortress after playing their home games at Power Dynamos’ Arthur Davies Stadium.
The refurbished structure has seen the erecting of a grandstand, VIP, roofed club house, practice pitch, perimeter fence and change rooms.
“This means one very important thing to us, the fans and the club coming back home this season. We can once again start enjoying the pleasure of playing at our famous ‘chilata’,” said Mopani Chief Executive Officer Danny Callow.
And club chairman John Chiwele said the stadium will have CCTV to deal with troublesome fans.
Zambia’s most decorated club has a long history of crowd trouble and will be hoping the refurbished facility marks a break from that past.
