A WOMAN of Lusaka’s Kanyama compound who is alleged to have set ablaze her daughter with kerosene on suspicion that she stole a K7.50 appeared in the Lusaka High Court on a charge of murder.
Prudence Phiri 29, appeared before Lusaka High Court Judge Mwila Kombe but denied murdering her daughter.
When the matter came up for start of trial, the State told the court that the arresting officer did not bring the list of witness and so could not proceed to trial.
Judge Kombe however adjourned the matter to June 14 for trail to start.
Particulars of the offence are that the accused on September 5, 2017 did murder blessings Phiri.
The deceased was rescued by her neighbors who helped to put out the fire after which they reported the case to the police station.
Blessings was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital but died after battling for her life for some days due to the severe burns
