POLICE in Lusaka have slapped 12 counts of murder on the driver of the ill-fated truck which killed 12 people after the vehicle veered of Lusaka’s Lumumba road in the process hitting shops which included a bar where some people were watching a soccer match.
Elijah Chikwenda aged 34 has been arrested and charged after being discharged from the UTH where he was receiving treatment.
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo has said Chikwenda will appear in court soon.
On Friday, 26th October, 2019, Chikwenda who was driving a BHL truck but lost control before hitting into shops at Buseko market.
Apart from the 12 people who died, several others were injured and are admitted to the UTH.
The deceased are yet to be buried as the bereaved families are waiting for Government assistanc
