GOVERNMENT has implored the church to pray for President Lungu to enable him lead the country diligently.
Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Given Lubinda said the church should ‘stand in the gap’ for the Head of State to enable him successfully execute his term of office.
Mr Lubinda said this at the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) east consistory at Saint Paul’s congregation in Linda township.
He said it is unfortunate that some sections of the public are wishing the Head of State ill.
“There are people that are opposing the president’s leadership and this is simply having a negative impact on the country’s development,” he said.
Mr Lubinda said those wishing President Lungu ill are adding more blessings to his life as he is poised for victory in next year’s general elections
He implored Christians to use their resources for evangelism.
“You should use resources for evangelism and never use God to make money,” he said.
The minister further implored the church to assist government in fighting tribalism and hate speech as they are not part of Christian values.
“There is no need for people to focus on tribe as these days, Zambians inter-marry. What is important is that we are all one Zambia,” he said.
UCZ Livingstone east consistory chairperson Lembe Tontela Sivile advised the church and all Zambians in general to participate in the country’s development.
African Methodist Episcopal Church (AMEC) Reverend, Martin Chama said it is unacceptable that Zambians are concentrating on constructing luxury bars and shops while neglecting the church.
“It is not right that people should build bars, brothels and other structures and yet the church should fail to construct places of worship,” he said.

UPND At It Again As It Campaigns On Tribal Lines in Masaiti
UPND Copperbelt provincial chairman Elisha Matambo on Friday played a tribal trumpet when he advised people of Masaiti not to vote for PF candidate Michael Katambo because he is not Lamba.
Speaking at a rally in Masaiti addressed by UPND president Hakainde Hichilema to drum support for UPND candidate Peter Mumba, Matambo told the gathering not vote for Katambo because he did not hail from Lambaland.
“We want a Lamba to stand here in Masaiti, a by-election is a serious business. We will not allow someone from another place to stand, it has to be a son of the soil. In Mpongwe, they voted for [Gabriel] Namulambe, so what’s wrong with you people here? Katambo just married one of us [Lamba lady] here and that does not make him Lamba. On this one, there is no compromise. Even Rupiah Banda when he was campaigning for President Lungu, he told Easteners to vote for their own and it’s an open secret,” said Matambo.
Footballer Dumps Wife Days After Wedding
The Lusaka Boma Court has heard how Kabwe Warriors mid-fielder, Abuid Sakala, dumped his wife a few days after their wedding in Lusaka. In this case, Nelly Lumwaya, 23, a resident of Chilenje Township in Lusaka, sued Sakala for marriage reconciliation.
But the reconciliation failed. Lumwaya narrated that the two got married on December 20, 2014 and had a white wedding but that her husband left for Kabwe on January 3 and went for good without proper reason. According to Lumwaya, Sakala paid K2,000 out of the K6,000 he was charged for dowry. She explained that Sakala left Lusaka, saying he was going to sign a new contract with his football team, but that one time when she phoned him, a woman answered claiming that she was his wife and that they lived together in Kabwe. Lumwaya further explained that the woman decided to call back, warning her to stay away from Sakala and insulted her. She said she called Sakala several times because she also needed money for rentals and food.
Lumwaya further narrated that on March 17, she and some elders travelled to Kabwe where they found an expectant woman in Sakala’s house who said she was married to him. But in his defence, Sakala, 25, said he did not dump his wife but that he was in a dilemma because the woman he impregnated was brought to his home.
Sakala, however, refused to reconcile with Lumwaya, saying their marriage could not work because he impregnated someone else. Asked if he had decided to marry the the other woman, Sakala said he would make a decision after the woman gives birth.
In ruling, magistrate In’untu Mulenga ordered Sakala to finish paying dowry. Magistrate Mulenga also advised Lumwaya to sue for divorce and go back to school because Sakala was wasting her time.
Video: How Tb Joshua Prophesied The Emergence And Victory Of Nigeria’s Opposition Party
Although Nigeria’s main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), was only formed in February 2013, a video has surfaced showing their emergence and historic victory in the Nigerian elections was predicted in as early as 2010.
“I am seeing a party rise, challenging the super party of your country today,” Nigerian Pastor T.B. Joshua is shown telling his congregants on April 18th 2010 in a clip posted to video-sharing site YouTube.
“There will be a new party to challenge the existing party,” he reiterated, repeating his statement the following week on April 25th 2010.
The clip jumps several years later to January 19th 2013, where the cleric warned that disunity would be the bane of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s ruling party which boasted it would hold onto power for 60 years. “Pray that this will not bring the government to its knees – serious disunity,” he said.
A year later, specifically On February 16th 2014, the popular televangelist spoke again. “You were thinking that this mighty party, PDP, would remain,” he stated, reminding people of the prophecy he had given back in 2010. “The challenges would be so much that it would bring the mighty party on their knees,” he re-emphasised.
Pastor Joshua, who steered clear from endorsing any specific candidates during the course of Nigeria’s elections, explained that his ministerial position calls for political neutrality.
“God does not allow a man of God like me who is a man of people to belong to any party,” he said. “He should belong to all parties – equal love, equal favour, equal rights. If not, the Lord cannot continue to support such a man.”
The clip was uploaded by Emmanuel TV, the YouTube channel of Joshua’s popular television station. It has almost 170,000 subscribers.
APC made history in the recently held Nigerian elections as their presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari won by almost 2.6 million votes, the first time in Nigeria’s political history that an opposition political party unseated a governing party in a general election. Political observers have cited internal disunity as being a major cause of PDP’s demise.
