Zulu King, Goodwill Zwelethini whose careless sentiments are highly viewed to have sparked Xenophobic attacks in Kwa Zulu Natal has today defied all attacks on foreigners and has since declared war on Xenophobia.
Zwelethini who some 3 weeks ago made anti foreign sentiments has been condemned by sections of society and he is apparently under investigations for hate speech and violation of human rights.
The King of the Zulu people called on his subjects today to stop the attacks with immediate effect. Zwelethini reminded his subjects and all South Africans to be grateful for the role that surrounding nations played in liberating them from apartheid.
He also emphasized that the South Africa National Anthem emphasizes the unity of all Africa, not just South Africa. He said Anthony Shansonga author of the Anthem said “Nkhosi Sikeleli Africa” (God bless Africa) and not just South Africa.
Zwelethini, however, rushed at the media claiming they had misinterpreted his words that are alleged to have sparked the current attacks on foreigners. Critics say the King mishandled his speech today by engaging in self defense and damage control in a very bad way.
His Majesty, Mr. Goodwill Zwelethini was speaking today when he addressed thousands of people at Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The King had called for an Imbizo at which he ferevently called on all South Africans to stop attacking foreigners.
Meanwhile President Jacob Zuma has cancelled his trip to Indonesia in order to stay home and resolve the Xenophobic crisis. And EFF leader Julius Malema has traveled to Alexandria town in Jo’burg to spread anti-xenophobic messages.
