ABSA Cup champions Lusaka Dynamos has pledged K100,000 towards the treatment for Zambia Sports fans Association patron Pastor Peter Makembo.
In an interview with the Mast sports, Lusaka Dynamos club secretary Oliver Shalala said the money was not from the K600,000 the club won from the ABSA cup but from club sponsor Bokani Soko.
He said the prize money from ABSA was for the players and coaches to “enjoy their moment”.
“We have pledged it and we are in the process of payment. So the K100,000 will go towards Mr Makembo’s treatment and all that. He is a football person and we are a football company,” he said.
“The money is coming through our sponsor, Mr Bokani Soko, it is not from the prize money we won yesterday. The K600,000 will go to the players and the coaches who won it so they will share it.
“There is nothing like it will go for bills or pay salaries no, the money that they won they will share for themselves and enjoy their moment.”
Shalala added that the club was playing its corporate social responsibility.
“For pastor Makembo, it’s like a corporate responsibility through our sponsor Bokani Soko. We have raised K100,000 which we are going to donated to him for his treatment,” he concluded.
Makembo was on Tuesday admitted to St. Jones Hospital [formerly Zambia Italian Orthopedic due neck spine injury
