Dear Editor,
Am concerned as to where Zambia is headed. Firstly i want to talk about opportunities, jobs, higher education and health.
1. jobs, first qualification: One is an educated Zambian and not because he knows someone or knows someone who knows someone,, this should be FOUGHT and PHASED out to the core if Zambia is to be competitive and be on a fast pace to development, technological innovation and high powered skills among Zambians, this thing of “I have connection has dragged our nation on tortoise pace and we wont see any change in the next 50 years we will continue moving round the same circle expecting coordinates to change while we seemingly do the same thing over and over expecting a different result” madness in short”
2. education: education system need to be revised to suit the current local and international trends.. teachers need to be well equipped with resources such as computers and should have access to high speed INTERNET to allow them do research and be abreast with latest information to give students, computer/ labs should be introduced in all high schools to prepare the young generation for future challenges in the computer world. teachers should be motivated both materially and immaterially so that they can love their jobs and produce quality high school graduate.. new programs should be introduced at high institutions of learning which will solve problems which have not yet occurred in our Zambia and the world as a whole” all in all my main point of emphasis is” this useless culture of whom you know and not what you know should come to an end with immediate effect if we are to see a positive change in Zambia. A Zambia ‘ where young men and women with potential will be given equal opportunities based on their qualification and not because they know someone who knows someone who knows someone…
3. environmental degradation is the main cause of so many water born and air born disease in Zambia” cholera” is a major example and pneumonia among other diseases, the government should come up with strict laws geographically so as to rule out which parts of the country are the major contributors to environmental destruction.. why spend billions of kwacha to buying medicines when millions can be spent to curb the source of these diseases??
rules should govern everyone one whether someone is a KAPONYA” NGWANWAZI ” UNLAWFUL STREET TRADERS.. WE NEED A CLEAN ZAMBIA, WE NEED A HEALTHY ZAMBIA A HEALTHY FUTURE AND A HEALTHY PEOPLE,, I END HERE,, PLEASE Tumfweko ”IF THIS CAN BE PUBLISHED” EVERY JOURNEY STARTS WITH A STEP AND PUBLISHING IT LOCALLY IS THAT FIRST STEP…!!
CONCERNED ZAMBIAN.
