MINISTER of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Nkandu Luo says Government will spend over KR11.2 million on the construction and rehabilitation of 15 chiefs’ palaces this year.
Professor Luo said this in Parliament on Tuesday evening in response to Monze Central member of Parliament (MP) Cornelius Mweetwa (UPND), who wanted to know how much money would be spent on constructing and rehabilitating chiefs’ palaces across the country.
This was during the questions for oral answer session.
Prof Luo said the construction and rehabilitation works on selected palaces will commence as soon as funds are mobilised.
“Government will construct 14 to 15 chiefs’ palaces this year, depending on how the money comes,” she said.
The minister urged the private sector to partner with Government to ensure that chiefs are provided with decent accommodation.
