THE Ndola Magistrate’s Court has slapped a fresh charge of attempted murder on magistrate Ben Akende’s wife, Gertrude Njobvu.
The offence is contrary to section 215 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that Njobvu, 42, on August 8, 2013 in Ndola, attempted murder Mr Akende.
When the case came up before magistrate Joan Tamba on Monday, Njobvu applied for bail.
But Ms Tamba said she could not grant Njobvu bail before the matter comes up for ruling in the High Court.
“The prosecution has no objection to your bail application but I will not proceed to grant you bail immediately until the matter comes up for ruling in the High Court,” Ms Tamba said
Ms Njovu was earlier charged with unlawful woundin, which is contrary to Section 232 the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia but the court discharged her after the State indicated that she would be charged with a different offence.
