A ZAMBIA Revenue Authority (ZRA) employee, Joy Katalilo has sued his former girlfriend Jeannette Nanyangwe and is demanding K52 million from her which he had given her for safe keeping.
In a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court, Mr Katalilo said he started giving Nanyangwe the monies early this year with the intention of using the said monies for their marriage preparations.
Mr Katalilo decided to terminate the relationship in June 2012 after he discovered that his then girlfriend had an affair with a business executive in Lusaka’s Chilenje Township.
“In June this year, I terminated the friendship between the two of us because I discovered that my girlfriend then (Nanyangwe) had an affair with a local businessman of Lusaka’s Chilenje Township,” he said.
He said after the relationship was terminated, he demanded that Nanyangwe should release his K52 million which she had been keeping but to no avail and in the process he decided to send his relatives to help him follow up the payment.
The defendant said in an agreement signed between the duo dated June 19 2012, Nanyangwe agreed to pay back the said monies after it matures within a period of three months.
The duo started having a relation in 2004 and planned to have their marriage this year and in the process Mr Katalilo started giving Nanyangwe money to keep for their marriage preparations until it accumulated to K52 million.
The defendant was now demanding for the payment of K52 million with interest and costs and any other relief the court may deem fit.
