Mopani Copper Mines Plc is about to impose a questionable food supplement called Future life High Energy Nutrient Dense Meal, on its Zambian employees in what insiders say is the Mine’s quest to improve on copper production.

MCM employees on these supplement trial have since been given green t-shirts branded with ‘Full battery for the all shift ‘symbolising ambassadorship of the supplement.
“The supplement, which has over fifty (50) nutrients on its typical nutritional information, and lacks certification from both SABS and ZABS, has side effects such as insomnia (lack of sleep), constipation, abnormal high levels of energy, addictive e.t.c, as testified by employees who are put on trials. A stretcher case was recorded at Mopani Mufurila mine on 30th September 2019 after one of the employees on trials consumed the supplement and proceeded underground. He has since been put on bed rest.” Stated an affected miner.
Another informer said Mopani seems to in a hurry to introduce this supplement so that it works in line with its new policy of a twelve hour shift which they believe employees result in employees working more hours and producing more copper if they are under the influence of this supplement.
However, employees have threatened to take Mopani to court if they attempt to impose the high energy supplement on them.
Employees have also given Mopani a number of options ranging from providing employees with Zambian food to giving them a meal allowance per month. They have cited Lubambe mine, which is similar to Mopani, as one underground mine that provide proper Zambian traditional food to its employees.
