Nkoyas Demand 11th Province “We Do Not Want To Be Under Lozi Domination”

map_of_zambiaPRESSURE is mounting on the Government to create a new province for the Nkoya Royal Establishment to pacify on-going rivalry with the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE).
The Nkoyas feel marginalized and unnecessarily embroiled in the current Barotseland Agreement (BA) with which they disagree with and have no part to play.
Nkoya Royal Council chairman David Tamboka said that once Western Province was divided into two, the BA will be a thing of the past.

He challenged Government to separate Nkeyema, Luampa, Lukulu, Kaoma, Mitete and Itezhi Tezhi districts from the rest of the province.
Mr. Tamboka said that people should not forget that Western Province had two regions-the Barotseland and the Nkoya land.
He said although the Nkoyas were the major stakeholders in Western Province, they had forgotten about cessation because they knew that it was a non-issue immediately after independence.
Mr. Tamboka said cessation of Western Province from the rest of Zambia was a backward way of thinking and should never be encouraged.
“We cannot have people advocating a separate state in this era, such calls must not be encouraged by Zambians. President Edgar Lungu is working tirelessly to develop the economy of this country in his bid to see that the country achieves greater heights,” he said.
Mr Tamboka said the Nkoyas will always support the leadership of President Lungu because it was inclusive and unifying.
“This country belongs to everyone and the issue of the 1964 Barotseland agreement died immediately after independence and should be forgotten. Those still talking about the Barotseland Agreement must just forget because it died immediately the country gained independence in 1964,” he said.
“This country belongs to everyone and if anything people must not forget that there were two nations, the Barotseland and the Nkoyaland. Actually Nkoyas were the major stakeholders in Western Province. The Barotseland issue died immediately after the country gained independence in 1964 so it must just be forgotten,” he said.
There have been some activists in Western Province who have been calling for the restoration of the Barotseland Agreement.
Others in Western Province have been calling for the cessation of the region because of Government’s alleged failure to honour the agreement.

THE Ndola High Court has sentenced a 22-year-old man of Mikomfwa in Luanshya to 18 years imprisonment with hard labour for raping a woman and biting her cheek during the ordeal.
Wallace Musakwe, unemployed of house number 485 in Mikonfwa, was charged with assault and rape.
He denied both charges.
In passing the sentence, Justice Yvonne Chembe noted that Musakwe had sex with the victim by force and also bit her on the face after achieving what he wanted.
“I have perused the record of the court below and I have discovered that the convict had sex with the complainant. The convict also forcefully took the victim from the presence of other people until he achieved what he wanted. It is in this vein that I sentence the convict to 18 years imprisonment with hard labour. The sentence will run from the day of your arrest,” Ms Justice Chembe said.
In mitigation, defence counsel Ethel Banda begged the court to be lenient on the convict because he was youthful and had promised never to commit a similar offence.
Facts before court are that on March 15, 2014, in Luanshya, Musakwe assaulted the victim thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm and in the process raping her.
Particulars state that the victim was at a named bar where she met Musakwe. Later the victim hired a taxi and the accused also got onto the same vehicle.
The victim testified that when she told the driver to ask the accused to disembark, Musakwe refused and threatened to damage the car.
Later both the accused and the victim disembarked at the same spot where Musakwe raped her from.
The victim further testified that Musakwe bit her on the face and she sustained a deep cut near her mouth as she struggled with the rapist.
In defence, Musakwe, who gave evidence on oath, told the court that the sexual act was consensual but that the victim only became uncomfortable when he was about to “finish”.
Musakwe said he was forced to bite the woman because she pulled his manhood.

Pilato’s Song Excites Lungu’s Critics

pilato hhSATIRE writer and singer Pilato, says Zambians must not be afraid to speak out when they see things go wrong in the PF government.

The controversial singer has released a song titled A Lungu Anabwela, a parody of Nashil Pichen Kazembe’s 1970s hit A Phiri Anabwela.

Featuring the voice of Michael Sata, the lyrics of A Lungu anabwela depict the predicament of a politician called Lungu, who emerges from Chawama compound with a suitcase full of Jameson whisky and ascends to power following the death of a leader.

While maintaining the original music arrangement of Kazembe’s song, Pilato, whose real names are Chama Fimba, narrates how Lungu failed to develop Chawama.
“A Lungu anaganiza sono nizayenda kuti, kateka wa PF, anamwalila kudala, a Lungu anaganiza sono nizabweza uti, RB na Dora ninabweza nikudala mama..,” reads part of the song.

The song, which also questions President Edgar Lungu’s decision to retain MMD leaders whom the Zambian people voted out of power, has received a lot of attention and has drawn comments from individuals on social platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook.
In an interview, Pilato said he was inspired to compose the song to express his disappointment with wrong things going on in the country.

“It’s more like a story of how things can change. Recall we voted for the PF because we didn’t like the management of Rupiah Banda and the MMD. But we now see that Rupiah Banda and the MMD are slowly taking over,” Pilato said.

“The truth is that most Zambians are very intelligent people. Maybe they love the country but they don’t care enough. Zambians would rather sit and watch things go wrong, and say ‘oh’, and write a few comments on Facebook. But you need to get to a level where people need to stand up for what’s right.”
Pilato also said if Zambians do not speak out, it will cost the country.

“I feel I get moved when I see anything wrong and it’s done by our leaders and nobody says anything. It’s getting bad; people need to speak up. We need to speak out when things are going wrong. People should get to a point and realise this is the only country we have. It’s gonna cost us a lot,” he said.

“I want to be an artiste now and in the future. I want to be the one that speaks for myself and the one that speaks for those that can’t speak.”
The Copperbelt-based singer said he is not afraid of being pursued by police because he knows he is speaking the truth.

“If you are saying the truth, you have nothing to fear. As long as you are not being malicious and just telling lies about people, you have nothing to fear. There is no room for fear, you can’t be that fearful. There is nothing as brave as truth. I don’t think there is any reason to be scared of anything.”

Pilato further said he has received a lot of threats from people in the government and individuals from the ruling party.

“They’ve always been after me; I don’t know how fast they will be on this one. I don’t even think there is need for that on this one. I have had calls and threats from the party in power. I don’t think that will change the way I look at things. I have had calls from people in government; I still receive calls and threats. People are sacred to speak; it’s not good enough,” said Pilato.

Serious Corruption, Bribery EXPOSED At RDA

Dear Editor,

Please withhold my username. I want to report on the blatant abuse of meager Govt resources by a bunch of irresponsible Directors running RDA. I want you to come and interview them and verify for yourselves over costly decisions they are making.

Firstly, RDA has been paying millions of kwacha in rentals for for office space opposite ZNBC for years now when all those officers occupying those offices left their well furnished offices at Ridgeway vacant. Why should someone leave their offices vacant to go and rent expensive offices when the Govt is complaining about luck of resources? Find out which Director proposed this and what their interest is. RDA has even started paving the same offices at Govt expense when that building is a private one. Why waste money?

Secondly, RDA Directors buy themselves expensive VX Toyota Land cruisers each year with one costing about ZMK 900,000.00. Some Directors have only been in RDA serving their first three year contracts but already have two VX Toyotas. Is that being a good steward of Govt resources? Come and investigate and ask them to justify the abuse obtaining at RDA.

Furthermore, RDA has awarded a contract to track vehicles 24/7 at huge cost when in the actual sense line managers can ably monitor fleet in their sections. The total cost of this project will be so huge when the Govt is struggling to pay contractors. Worse still, RDA has insured these vehicles comprehensively. Why make such a decisions as a Director. Investigate and expose the beneficially especially the one who proposed this useless decision and establish a connection between a contractor and the same Directors.

Moreover, RDA has bought land where they want to build a modern office complex when at RDA Lusaka region there is massive space of land where an ultra modern structure can be built to house all RDA employees. Investigate it and expose the beneficially.

The salary discrepancy between Grades is very abnormal. management award themselves hefty salaries unfairly leaving the lowest paid worker suffering.

Please hide my identity.

A 40-YEAR-OLD man of Mtendere East in Lusaka has sustained severe facial burns allegedly inflicted by his wife, who poured hot porridge on him.
Brian Mubanga said from his hospital bed at Levy Mwanawasa Hospital that two weeks ago, a man had been calling his wife at night.
Mr Mubanga said he answered the call when his wife was asleep and the man cut the line.
He said the following day, he decided to go with his wife’s phone to the office when it rang again.
“When I answered, the man said my wife has been paging him and he didn’t know why. When I got home from work, I gave the phone back to my wife after I wrote down the number of the man who had been calling her, which she saved as ‘Mrs Chama’,” he said.
Mr Mubanga said last Thursday around 22:00 hours, he was in bed with his wife when the man called again.
He said his wife picked up the phone and told the man that she had already left the salon, where she works.
Mr Mubanga said the following morning (on Friday), he told a friend that he was concerned that a man had been calling his wife at night.
Mr Mubanga said his friend told him to be careful with some of his (Mubanga) friends, especially a man called Chama.
“When I got home that evening, I walked in and found my wife boiling some porridge. I began to tell her about what I discovered but before I could finish speaking, she poured the porridge on me,” he said wincing in pain.
He began to scream for help after which neighbours rushed him to the hospital, whereto his wife also followed.
At the hospital, his wife began to boast in the corridors about what she had done to him forcing people to manhandle her and take her to the police station.
Mr Mubanga said that was not the first time his wife had been violent as three months ago, she hit him on the head with a metal bar.
Mr Mubanga is said to be in a stable condition and responding well to treatment.

The hosts could have doubled the lead on 42 minutes but Shadreck Musonda’s goal was ruled off-side by referee Milton Mweemba.
Nkana continued tormenting Buffaloes and their efforts paid off on 70 minutes when Musonda sealed victory with a low shot past goalkeeper Fred Silwamba after benefiting from Tony Odur’s pass.
Five minutes later, Buffaloes suffered a setback when Felloni Sitonya saw a straight red card for a crude challenge on Musonda.

Kapita: Give Edgar Lungu Full Term Of Office

FORMER United Party for National Development (UPND) vice-president Richard Kapita says President Lungu deserves a full term of office for his inclusive and visionary leadership.
Mr Kapita, who recently joined to the Patriotic Front (PF), said in Kitwe on Friday that President Lungu has demonstrated good leadership since assuming office and that he is the right man to steer the country to greater heights.
He said it is imperative that all Zambians rally behind Mr Lungu to enable him to continue implementing the pro-poor PF policies.
He said this is not the time to experiment with leadership as the country is in safe hands under Mr Lungu’s reign.
Mr Kapita was part of President Lungu’s entourage that was in Kitwe on Friday for the official opening of the 58th Copperbelt Mining, Agricultural and Commercial Show.
“Zambians must come together and support President Lungu in his efforts to unite the country and improve the welfare of the Zambian people.
“He is a man with a great vision for this country that is why I decided to leave UPND to join the PF,” Mr Kapita said.
He urged the people of the Copperbelt to continue supporting the PF ahead of the 2016 tripartite elections.
“I am happy to be here. I am grateful to His Excellency President Lungu for inviting me to accompany him to this show. We need to maximise production by encouraging people to venture into production and manufacturing.
“We need to go into business that will add value to our economy,” Mr Kapita said.
He said it was unacceptable for a country that has so many natural resources to have its people wallowing in poverty

PF Demand Apology From Pilato For ‘ALungu Anabwera’ Hit Song

$

pilato23The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) party has demanded an apology from Musician and social commenter Pilato for what it terms as ‘defamation’ of President Edgar Lungu.

PF media director Brian Hapunda told journalists that Pilato must issue an apology for his ‘insulting’ song or ‘face the consequences.’
Hapunda accused the Copperbelt-based artist of lacking respect for the country’s presidency, adding that the ruling party will not sit idly and watch the musician defame the President.

Pilato, who has gained notoriety for his politically charged lyrical content, has unleashed a rendition of the 1970s hit ‘Aphiri anabwera’, which he has titled ‘Alungu anabwera’, in which he satirically mocks the ruling Patriotic Front and what became of it after President Micheal Sata’s death.

In apparent reference to President Lungu, he mocks the recent merger of the vanquished former ruling party the MMD with the PF through numerous by-elections.

Pilato goes on to satirically play around with a little known ‘Lungu’, who emerges out of Chawama with a suit case stashed with ‘Jameson’ and other wise known whiskeys.

The song has now been widely shared on social media much to the annoyance of Lungu’s sympathisers.

Pilato, born Chama Fumba has in the past caused controversy when he labeled late President Micheal Sata as a ‘lying step-father’ in his other politically charged song with Petersen titled ‘Bufi’ in 2013.

Pilato Responds To PF Threats On His Life

$
0
0

pilato hhThe ALUNGU ANABWELA song by Pilato has angered the ruling PF and threats on his life have ensued. Pilato is however undaunted. He wrote;

Power is the weakest possession there is. It’s ability to deceive, corrupt and blindfold those that crown themselves with it is beyond measure. But truth is, genuine power is not in power itself, genuine power is not in bulldozing the poor, the humble and weak into your bosom, genuine power is serving the poor and protecting the weak. It is fear that inspires men to harm other people. It is hard to respond to a political threat or demand because it is in the nature of their job to ‘say something’. A politician just has to say something about anything. When some speak out of conviction politicians speak because their jobs demands so… I find it hard to kneel to that point.

To those pushing threats on my life, life is like a blank sheet of paper, it becomes what you write on it. No one buys application letters, you buy blank papers and you turn them into letters. My life is no special and in no way do I plan to run or hide from any of your guns and knives. Better and worthy people have died before and some where even killed by less strong creatures compared to you. If you do not like the opinions in my music and you believe that harming me is the solution, you are welcome. My inspirations are birthed by transpirations so if you don’t like what I talk about, change what happens.

Asking for my apology?
Those that claim to be friends and believers in the ideals of the PF should be the first to apologise because, its the PF that taught us the evils we knew and know about the MMD. It is the PF that told us that the MMD were corrupt, it is the PF that told us that the MMD were responsible for sufferings of the so many Zambians today. It is the PF that told us that for us to move forward we needed to vote the government out… What wrong is believing in what we were taught by the men and women we trusted.

Those accusing me of defaming his excellence the president… I suspect the president just laughed at the song and ‘ umwaiche uyu alichenjela’ while the tongues of those that are paid for talking are on fire. I do not have the guts to disrespect his excellency at all but as a citizen of this country I have the right to speak to the man in charge of the national affairs. I admit we do not live in a perfect society but that does not disqualify me on anyone to demand for the right thing.

Have a great sunday!

Stay Away From Saboi, Mwape Warns Tayali

Owas and SaboiMovie director Owas Mwape has sternly warned Chilufya Tayali to stay away from his ex wife Saboi Imboela. This was in response to Tayali’s invitation to the former musician turned activist turned politician for a ‘good time’ at Tayali’s house.

Mwape told Tayali in no uncertain terms to stop fantasising about his ex wife and baby mama and ‘get his own woman’.

“I’m warning Mr. Tayali to immediately stop dreaming of meeting Ms. imboela at his place. Why should Tayali invite Saboi at his own house, that woman must be respected and must not be drugged into dirty plays of Chilufya and friends” said the clearly emotional movie director when he appeared on Lusaka’s Joy FM this morning.

Mwape told Tayali to be ready for the ‘consequences’ should he continue his advances towards Imboela.

Both Mwape and Tayali had their own brushes with the law in the very recent past. Mwape was convicted and jailed for ‘stealing’ Saboi Imboela’s car. He served six months. On the other hand Tayali was acquitted of rape charges after a lengthy trail in a magistrate’s court.

The Zambia Under Twenty three soccer team this afternoon moved a step further towards the CAF U23 Championships as they defeated a highly spirited Botswana side by two goals to nil at Nkoloma stadium in Lusaka.

Botswana made a false start in the first half, forcing a free kick near Zambia’s 18 yard area which did not yield anything however.

Soon after that the game became a one sided affair that saw Zambia miss a myriad of chances. It was nil all at half time

On resumption, Zambia continued searching for the elusive goal and their efforts paid through Egyptian based Ronald “Sate Sate” Kampamba who made it one nil for the hosts in the 48th minute. Eight minutes later, Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba made it two for Zambia. The junior Chipolopolo continued to search for a third goal but to no avail. The game ended at two nil for the hosts.

With this Victory, Zambia has advanced to the third and final qualifying round of the U23 CAF Championships which will be held in Senegal in December this year.

Zambia’s next opponent is Ivory Coast. Chipolopolo will travel to the land of Current African Champions to full fill their first leg fixture on July 17. The return Match will be held on 31st of July in Zambia. This will be Zambia’s last hurdle to get to the CAF U23 Championships which will also be used to pick Africa’s representatives at the Brazil 2016 Olympics.

The top three nations at these Championships will proceed to Brazil.

In Harare the Zambia women soccer team lost by one nil to Zimbabwe in a match played at Rufaro stadium.

Chipolopolo women won the first leg by two goals to one in Lusaka last week. Despite the two games ending at two all aggregate, Chipolopolo women have been eliminated from the Olympics race on the away goal rule.

Has Pilato Defamed The President?

$
0

PilatoBy Isaac Mwanza

The release of Pilato’s remix is once again sparking debate on what Defamation of the President is and whether the President can be criticised. Before I proceed any further, let me advise PF leaders and the Zambia Police Force that depending on how they react to the “A Lungu” song done by this Copperbelt based musician, Pilato, they can make a hero of someone who doesn’t deserve that status, once again. President Lungu must resist the temptation to comment or act against Pilato and worse still, sending the Zambia Police Force to arrest Pilato because he will give chance to fellow politicians to take advantage and make this their politcal campaigns. Let the sleeping dog lie.

The issue of defamation of the President as contain3d in Section 69 of the Penal Code has been the hot topic for over two decades now especially when Zambia reverted to the Multi Party Politics although the law itself has existed since 1930, six years after the British Government too direct administration of Northern Rhodesia. It was drafted in the Legal Department of the Colonial Office under the direction of Secretary of State for Colonies. The Penal Code itself was lifted from Nigeria where the Code of the English Criminal Law had been in operation by 1930 for fourteen years.

Under Section 69 of the Penal Code, it just needs to be shown that the person has published defamatory or insulting matter to the Presidency, whether in writing, by word of mouth or any other to be put on his defence. The law itself does not lay guidelines to determining what is “insulting matter”. The police have the discretion to decide what publicatio is defamatory or insulting and what is not. The current scenario of Pilato will be very tempting to both PF leaders and the Police to act on this matter. In the next few days, we may see a number of constitutional lawyers hired by unknown forces to defend Pilato because all this will turn political.

If there is anything I have respect to the Fred M’membe and his colleagues was there contribution to development and inteprearion of law and seeking Justice when, for almost 3 times or more, Fred and his friend have challenged the Constitutionality of Section 69 in both the High Court and Supreme Court in the case of ‘The People vs Bright Mwape and Anor,’ ‘Fred M’membe and Anor v The People’ and ‘M’membe and Others v The People’ but at all times, our Judiciary, as we know it, has had men and women who sort to “think for today and tommorow is not ours to worry about”.

At one point during the Mwanawasa era, Fred M’membe and ‘The Post reserved some strong words for Mwanawasa, calling some of his actions stupid. The police quickly pounced on M’membe and remanded him at Kabwata Police. He, however, stood his ground and called for the High Court to strike down the law that criminalized presidential defamation. M’membe claimed that a stupid president should not hide his stupidity behind the cloth of presidential defamation. This case never went to court; it was withdrawn by Mwanawasa. The might of presidential powers were no match to cage M’membe. He was acquiring for himself real power and clout’ as one commentator had observed in 2010.

It will be interesting to see what will happen if PF leaders and officers from the Police Force are overpowered by emotion and take on Pilato in the defamation case but my advise to President Lungu is that it’s better not to legitimise some political thought and turn people into heroes when they are not supposed to be so. If I was an advisor to President Lungu, I would say, “Boss, forget about this provocation and restrain these overzealous police from giving Pilato a name he doesn’t deserve, let’s go and and tour George Compound now and meet the people”

The PF/MMD Unholy Alliance

$

By Greenwell Nyirenda

The newly found ‘love’ between the current Patriotic Front leadership and most of the Movement Multi-Party Democracy senior members can never go without our scrutiny. Its the duty and responsibility of a citizen like me to question the morality and integrity of organizations whose business is to run the nation on behalf of the whole population. I understand how ever that in our quest to offer checks and balances as non political aligned citizens, we are labelled as sadist and haters who according to those in party politics are choking with jealosy for seeing them in power. Nevertheless, I for one have resolved never to be shut down or be told what to say, as long as I am being truthfull to my populism beliefs.

The alliance between MMD and PF which has erupted just after the death of the Founder father of the PF, HE Michael Chilufya Sata,(MHSRIP) and soon after the rising of two factions in MMD is very unholy. The PF was founded as a protest and splinter organization from the MMD after Michael Sata was snubbed to succeed Fredrick JT Chiluba. For ten years in which PF stayed in the opposition, Sata and his colleagues like Scott Guy, suffered humiliation, embarrassment and terror by the MMD led government. From being incarnated at Chimbokaila Prisons, being teargassed or being denied rally permits. Sata survived in opposition due to is perseverance. If the PF was never persistent and determined, the MMD led government would have managed to kill PF. Sata and his team raised his own trademark and signature which marketed PF to the general citizens, worse still the MMD led government made sure that Sata is painted black despite all his hard work to get his message fairly and square to the voters. The MMD manufactured propaganda like, Sata will start forcing same-sex marriages.

Its now very surprising that the very people who for a decade fought the then PF leaders tooth and nail are back with full force, seemingly with so much preference than the founder members, benefiting from the efforts of those who they prevented from getting in government by setting unfair ground be it by not covering them by the public media or arresting the leaders on unfair charges like public order act. Every person has a democratic right to belong to any political organization of his/her choice, but categorically, let me say it is morally never right and logically incorrect for the current PF leadership to resolve and invite over the MMD leaders who for years prevented a fair chance for PF to thrive. As politicians, i understand that you believe in ‘no permanent friend, no permanent enemy’ philosophy but there is a need that our leaders also remember keeping their morals . It is clear that those MMD MPs and former government leaders who condemned the PF of Micheal Sata never did it out of principle. Other wise if they did, how can they stand today and defend the same policies they rubbished just 4 years ago, what has changed if not the change of PF leadership which has created opportunities for those who still want to continue sucking from our national coffers but never found courage and opportunity in getting such a privileged under the Sata led government. I understand that right now the PF feels they need MMD because of the influence which they feel those in MMD have on voters, especially after realizing that they have a very strong competition (going by last years results). This is the reason PF leadership will try and hang on MMD despite knowing that this alliance between them is very unholy. But I can humbly advise that the continuous alliance between the MMD former leaders and PF will never win PF any votes instead, they will lose those longstanding members.

The PF leadership need to take a decisive and responsible decision before its too late. The MMD is dead political organization and there is no help or influence which it can provide to the PF right now. The sooner the PF realizes this the better for their future. If those in PF feels this are unjustifiable calls we are making then its ok, we shall celebrate with them once MMD makes them leave government soon. Because the continued alignment between the two can only produce failure. Those politicians who keeps on changing political ideologies to suit the current ruling parties policies are not just greedy but selfish individuals who wish to continue they occupancy in the corridors of power, how ever Zambia is not for just for a few individuals, there is need for those in power to rotate the appointments and adoption of those to be made MPs not just from the same crop of disgruntled and corrupt politicians. We can not allow a situation where senior citizens who should be enjoying their retirement continually keep on calling the shots in the political spheres of our country. The very people who PF is entertaining right now sent MMD in oblivion, some of the came from UNIP and other parties, where they didn’t either defect or resign but kept on renewing their membership somewhere whilst there where putting on MMD regalia, the same people right now, with MMD cards in their hands but in PF are regalia are going round masquerading as true patriots. They managed to kill MMD in 2011, and thereafter came back and pushed Dr Nevers Mumba away who was busy trying to awaken the dead MMD, they carried the party and finally buried it.

PF need tp wake up and unbreak this unholy alliance, otherwise there is no reason why people voted out MMD if the same characters are back in our government through the back door.

God bless Zambia.

We went to cheer our under 23 national soccer team yesterday at Nkoloma stadium in the CAF Championship Brazil 2016 Qualifier. It was Zambia 2 – 0 Botswana.

I was in the company of our party vice president Dr. Canicious Banda, my good friend Hon. GBM and our senior official Mr. William Banda.

The reception was fantastic and GBM was almost going in as a super substitute to score more goals.

Ex-Jehovah’s Witness Schoolgirl Exposes Organisation As a Religion That ‘Destroys Lives’

A schoolgirl who left the Jehovah’s Witnesses after learning of its alleged failure to protect vulnerable women has blasted the organisation in a powerful speech to her classmates.

Holding back tears, she recalled her personal experiences as a member of the church and how she was taught everyone outside the religion, including her father, would be sent to Armageddon.

She also highlighted women’s lowly position in the hierarchy of the organisation and how they are viewed as inferior to men.

“They cannot teach men. They cannot even speak at a podium in front of men as I am doing now,” she said. “They are not to question any decision made by a men. That is slander.”

Dissenting from the orthodoxy on church doctrine and practices is forbidden as a Jehovah’s Witness and those who do are shunned by religious leaders. Independent thought is discouraged and is thought to have been introduced by the devil.

The most shocking allegations relate to women the girl spoke to, who were members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and wished to remain anonymous.

One, she called Jane, was allegedly interrogated by the church elders after she was raped, while at work as insurance salesperson.

The elders apparently said she tempted men by the way she dressed and that men were “only human”.

In order to be forgiven and not be excommunicated, or “disfellowshipped,” Jane was forced to dress more conservatively, quit her job and worst of all drop the charges against her attacker.

Another, called Donna, was allegedly molested by a man in her congregation when she was a young girl, but did not tell anyone because she knew nothing would be done.

It is claimed Donna was then abused physically and emotionally throughout 14 years of marriage and when she went to the church elders for support she was told it was her fault and should be a better wife.

Eventually Donna secured a divorce from her husband, but her torment did not end there. She was “disfellowshipped” from the organisation, which meant she was unable to speak to her friends or family members in the church.

“To make matters worse her children were taught not to speak to her because she was evil, they were isolated by her ex-husband and know nothing other than this religion. They are also terrified of disappointing their father and their god,” the girl said.

“The religion is separating a capable and loving mother from her children. Nothing could be more devastating for a mother.”

The church has battled with previous allegations of silencing victims of sexual abuse, to avoid embarrassing the church, but have always vigorously denied any wrongdoing.

In 2015 a Californian court ordered the Watch Tower Society, the company which runs the Jehovah’s Witnesses, to pay $2.8m in damages after failing to disclosure the past abuse of a congregation member, which led to the sexual abuse of a nine-year-old girl.

After learning all the religion has hid from its members the girl finished her speech by saying she wanted “no part in it”.

“It is a religion that preaches love and acceptance, but the reality is everything is conditional. Love and acceptance is only extended as long as members practise absolute obedience and question nothing, ever,” she said.

“This religion destroys lives, destroys families and they do it largely unchecked… because they are really good at silencing the people who leave.”

The Jehovah’s Witnesses were not immediately available for comment.
